Ramsgate enjoys two wonderfully maintained Victorian promenades. The Regency sits on the western promenade where your stroll will take you directly down to the south facing Undercliff beach or past the town’s four croquet lawns and bowls greens on Government Acre, a beautiful open space that often features visiting attractions, amusement rides, vintage car gatherings and fayres at weekends. On the other side of Ramsgate the eastern promenade walk will take you to one of the towns’ vast public parks and Italianate Greenhouse, which sells cream teas for most of the year.
At sea level, you will find the entrance to the famous Ramsgate tunnels, a vast 2.5 miles of tunnels under the town, which gave shelter to the 20,000 town’s folk during WW2, guided tours can be booked throughout out
Within a few minutes walk of your front door, you have the very popular, beautifully maintained Tennis Courts at Spencer Square, (pay as you go), with a delightful coffee hut serving a selection of homemade cakes, scones and treats. Tennis lessons and clubs are available. why not try the new craze, Pickle Ball?
